Job Summary

The Waldhaus Lab is part of the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Michigan Medical School. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow for a full-time position as cell biologist investigating development and regeneration of the mouse inner ear. We are specifically interested in pathways guiding embryonic development of the sensory tissue and how those pathways may be utilized to stimulate endogenous regeneration in the damaged tissue. The position involves working with transgenic mice, tissue collection, flow sorting and molecular characterization of isolated cells.

Responsibilities*

    • Assist the Principal Investigator in resolving molecular mechanisms of hair cell development and regeneration in the mouse inner ear. Methods applied will include flow sorting, single cell RNAseq, histology and confocal microscopy.

 

Required Qualifications*

    • Minimum of PhD in Biology or related field is required.
    • Background in cell and molecular biology.
    • Previous experience in working with transgenic mice, RNA-based workflows and imaging is required.
    • Interest in flow sorting is a plus.
    • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
    • Exceptional ability to work with a team.
    • Willingness to learn new techniques.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

 

Background Screening
