Health Services/Implementation Research Scientist Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness and Safety (IQuESt)

IQuESt (a collaborative center of health services research between the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and Baylor College of Medicine) is seeking a Health
Services/Implementation Research Scientist to join a grant supported multidisciplinary research collective conducting research on healthcare delivery that impacts policy, practice and the health of patients and populations.

The applicant will be expected to contribute to the research areas of one of three focus areas:

    • Developing and implementing pragmatic, integrated behavioral health interventions for persons with chronic medical illnesses.
    • Developing pragmatic approaches for measurement and improvement of diagnostic safety.
    • Developing new measures and novel analytic approaches for measurement of health care quality for improvement at the individual, facility, and population health level.

 

S/he will be a full-time faculty member, appointment and salary commensurate with experience. Applicants with current federal funding preferred. Clinicians within the VA system preferred. If relevant, up to 50% of time could be used for clinical activities.

Required Qualifications:

    • An MD or PhD is required
    • Must have a record of research in a relevant area of health services research
    • Must be able to compete for external funding (i.e. NIH, VA, AHRQ)
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident
