
08 Aug PostDoc – Spinal Cord Injury Research Lab
A Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate position is available in Dr. Veronica Tom’s lab at Drexel University College of Medicine (www.tom-lab.org) to investigate strategies and mechanisms to promote functional axon regeneration into the spinal cord after injury. The studies will involve a range of techniques, including (but not limited to) small animal survival surgery, use of viral vectors, histology, cell culture, behavioral assessment. The ideal candidate would have a PhD in Neuroscience or a highly related field and have experience with in vivo rodent CNS injury models and primary neuron cultures. Additionally, the candidate should be highly motivated, be able to work independently, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and have a strong record of academic achievement (e.g., publications).
The highly collegial Tom lab is a member of the Spinal Cord Research Center within Drexel University College of Medicine’s Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy (http://drexel.edu/medicine/About/Departments/Neurobiology-Anatomy/) in Philadelphia, PA. The Center and the Department as a whole provide an outstanding scientific environment for multidisciplinary training. Interactions and collaborations between labs and between other departments are encouraged. Additionally, the lab and the department have a history of promoting promising and enthusiastic individuals to faculty.
Postdoctoral fellows at all levels will be considered. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
