24 Apr Research Scientist – Non-Invasive Electrophysiological Measurement
A Research Scientist position is open at Quantum Applied Science & Research (QUASAR) in San Diego, CA. QUASAR is an R&D company specializing in non-invasive electrophysiological measurement systems. Our work builds on our revolutionary wearable biosensors and advanced algorithms to produce systems that monitor cognitive and physiological states for medical, military, and consumer applications. QUASAR is a small company with less than 20 employees, most of whom are Ph.D. level scientists and engineers.
The candidate will work with a team to perform original research, and manage research projects towards successful completion of their technical goals on time and on budget. The role includes researching innovative applications for the technology, and securing funding for its development and commercialization through grant writing. The candidate will also have the opportunity to publish scientific papers and represent the company at conferences.
Initial work will focus on ongoing projects that use our technologies in classroom and clinical settings. Other projects involve the development of advanced algorithms for signal processing and cognitive state classification, and new modalities for cardiac and brain monitoring.
Preferred experience, coursework or advanced knowledge:
- EEG data collection, analysis and interpretation
- Research, development or commercialization of educational technologies or interventions for K-12
- Industry research experience, including project management and grant writing is a plus
- FDA regulatory compliance for medical device manufacturers is a plus
Preferred skills:
- Ability to operate in several technical domains including electronics and software engineering, signal processing, data science and human electrophysiology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and with a team to complete project goals on time
- Advanced programming skills (C/C++, Matlab, Python, etc.) for data analysis and code development
- Ability to perceive both the high level vision of a project and its concrete details
- Responsible: Fulfill commitments and maintain a work schedule, follow through on deliverables, double check own work for accuracy and thoroughness.

Requirements:
- Holds PhD in Biomedical or Electrical Engineering, Neuroscience, Applied Physics, Psychology, or related field
