You are invited to apply for Dr. Waguih IsHak’s Clinical Research role in our Psychiatry & Behavioral Neurosciences Department (Psychosomatic Medicine). Clinical Research Fellowship focused on training critically needed post-doctoral scholars from a variety of disciplines (including psychiatry, medicine, psychology) in order to enhance the innovation in the field of Psychiatry & Medicine (Psychosomatic Medicine or Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry). Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Waguih IsHak, MD, FAPA, Professor and Vice Chairman for Research and Education, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences and other clinicians and research staff, you will (a) Acquire skills in hypothesis formulation, research methodology, statistical analysis, and manuscript preparation; (b) Participate in ongoing research with faculty; and (c) The program is available as a one or two-year Fellowship. Two-year fellows will advance their research skills and develop their own project under mentorship of training faculty. The program will provide you with didactics and hands-on experience in study design, research ethics, IRB training, data analysis, and scientific writing as well as training in implementation of research discoveries and evidence-based interventions in active clinical settings. The one-year track or the 1st year of the two-year track will end with the creation of a critical review of the literature on a topic of your interest that could serve as the background/significance section of a future grant application or a future review article publication. You will receive career planning and development instruction. Not responsible for generating grant funds.
Educational Requirements:

- Must have a doctorate (MD, PhD) from one of a variety of disciplines, including psychiatry, medicine, psychology, etc. by time of appointment.

Experience:
Works independently on clinical research projects designed by a mentor/PI within area of specialization. Demonstrated aptitude to conduct clinical research protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis. Experience in following federal and local agencies guidelines, policies and procedures, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and local Institutional Review Board. Ability to follow practices using Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guideline and maintaining strict patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations and applicable law.
