Postdoctoral Scientist – Gulati Lab

We are a systems neuroscience laboratory interested in understanding the motor basis of behavior. Motor acts are the ultimate way that we act in the world and express our cognitive/ perceptual/ reflexive neural processes’ outcomes. Our research goals are to understand how the brain generates movement and learns new motor skills, and how can these processes be restored after a motor injury such as brain stroke. We are investigating novel neuroengineering strategies for repair and functional recovery after neurologic injury (stroke/ SCI) that utilize development of spinal/ cortical motor prostheses, brain machine interfaces (BMIs) and neurorobotics.

Positions Open!

We are currently expanding our team at several levels:

The Lab is currently seeking talented and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow(s) and a Research Assistant.

Graduate Students will be accepted through Cedars-Sinai’s PhD Program in Biomedical and Translational Sciences.

We also accept Research Interns that are on-boarded through Cedars-Sinai’s Research Internship Program. Undergraduates/ medical students can do an Internship for academic credit/ paid internship (please check with us if a paid internship is available).

Desirable qualifications for Postdoctoral fellows: Ideal candidates would hold a PhD in Biomedical Engineering/ Neuroscience or a related discipline. Candidates will use a combination of systems neuroscience & neural engineering methods, together with optogenetic/ other causal manipulation of networks (intact/ injured) subserving motor behavior. Experience in one or more of the following domains is highly preferred: Matlab/ Python Programming, Animal Training, Neurophysiology. Possibilities exist to be involved in rodent/ clinical research. Interested candidates should contact me with their CV, a letter stating their interests & experiences, and contact information for 2-3 references.

Desirable qualifications for Research Assistant: Ideal candidates would hold a Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering/ Neuroscience or a related discipline. RAs with interest in Clinical research/ data analyses should contact us. Previous experience in a systems neuroscience lab or with matlab/ programming/ experimental electrophysiology is desirable. Interested candidates should contact me with their CV, a letter of interests & experiences, and contact information for 2-3 references.
