The Department of Neurology, Neurorehabilitation Division, at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher to perform research in upper extremity motor control and rehabilitation, corticospinal physiology, and neuroimaging. The successful candidate will be expected to guide and assist in the analysis of data and preparation of publications from recent studies of corticospinal excitability and movement. The candidate will also be involved in ongoing human subjects research exploring neurophysiological and imaging markers of corticospinal excitability in healthy and post-stroke participants. The candidate will gain experience and training in interventional neuromodulation by assisting with management of a pilot study. The candidate will also assist with grant writing, regulatory compliance, and lab administration. We are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven individual with a PhD in neuroscience, kinesiology, biomedical or electrical engineering, or a related field, with a focus on human nervous system control of movement.

Qualifications:

• • Experience in analysis and presentation of human neurophysiology, neuroimaging, and/or kinesiological data is required.
  • Must have strong analytical and writing skills proven with a track record of first authored publications. The ability to work independently and in collaboration are necessary.
  • Proficiency in human subjects research ethical principles, regulatory compliance, administration, and conduct is required.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including statistical analysis software (SPSS, R), Microsoft Office365, and Endnote, is preferred. Experience with Matlab/Simulink, SPM, FSL, Conn is advantageous.

This position is for a 1 year appointment. Appointment renewal is possible contingent on performance, funding, and mutual interest.
