About the Opportunity
As the in-house subject matter expert in the UI/UX space, this role will be responsible for creating enhanced user experiences for BrainScope software applications for both new and existing product development efforts. The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean and functional design, experience with usability assessments, user workflow analysis, and UI design skills. Candidates shall be able to translate high-level market and system requirements into interaction flows, consistent with our brand language and design guidelines transform them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional user interfaces.

- Is a full time position based in our corporate office, located in Bethesda, Maryland

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to improve existing products and bring new concepts to life.
- Responsible for gathering and evaluating user requirements in collaboration with product management, software engineering and other key stakeholders
- Ability to analyze user data to identify requirements, user types, opportunities for improvements
- Synthesize visual design and UX thinking
- Evangelize UX and Design throughout the organization
- Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards
- Translate complex user/business goals into simple, beautiful and user-friendly solutions.
- Create intuitive interfaces that optimize user interaction and experience
- Design graphical user interface style guides for mobile medical device applications and websites
- Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
- Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate application/site function
- Build screen/page navigation UI elements
- Communicate ideas clearly, early and often.
- Present and explain designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders
- Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback
Desired Qualifications

- A portfolio of previous UX and/or UI design-related work (please include in your resume or application.
- A thorough understanding of visual design, hierarchy, information architecture, interaction models, and user experience, with a user-centric mindset.
- BA/BS or higher in web design, graphic design, user interface design, cognitive psychology, or a related discipline
- 5-10 years of experience within a corporate or agency setting, with ideally 3 years focusing on medical devices.
- Graphic design experience is a plus with mastery of the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Experience working on all project phases from strategy to conceptual development to visual design.
- Knowledge of wireframe tools
- Experience designing mobile Android app and responsive web interfaces
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; ability to effectively articulate, evangelize ideas and design decisions.
- Ability to influence thinking and adoption of UI/UX mindset in others.
- Ability to teach other team members process, tools, and workflow
- Hands-on experience in medical device design activities, including human factors testing desired
- Ability to generate interactive mockups for UX and usability testing
- Experience developing and executing a usability test plan including managing test participants; experience incorporating usability study outcomes into product designs
- Ability to rapidly produce multiple visual directions/variations and UX/UI concepts.
- A quick learner, a self-starter, able to work independently and handle increasing level of responsibility.
- A positive and team-oriented attitude, collaborative mind set, willingness to learn or share new ideas or thinking.
- Ability to operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented culture that emphasizes professional development
