About the Opportunity
This Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for performing a key role on the software development team, utilizing key engineering principles, providing embedded software leadership for related medical product design and development in an internationally regulated environment. The Android OS based embedded software engineer will utilize highly developed and refined programming skills to synthesize technical solutions to support selected architectures, produce design outputs, perform functional testing/ analysis, debugging, verification and validation of products and processes with related documentation needed for product realization.
The Embedded Software Engineer is a seasoned, quality-driven programmer with extensive experience with development of GUI based systems and strong knowledge of hardware/firmware integration. Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain embedded applications, using Android OS/Linux platforms
- Develop and maintain firmware applications, as required
- Provide full life-cycle software development, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, production deployment, documentation, training, configuration, and maintenance
- Help evolve the software development methodology based on agile and lean thinking, including the establishment of coding conventions, documentation standards, testing procedures and quality assurance
- Participate in cross-functional project teams to design and provide software/firmware solutions
- Provide full life-cycle software development, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, production deployment, documentation, training, configuration, and maintenance
Desired Qualifications

- Minimum – Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Master’s or PhD in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
- 5-7 years of related software development experience.
- Working knowledge of Android OS, with embedded C development environments and practices
- Fluent in the C/C++ languages, minimum 5 years C experience
- Working knowledge of phone-partitions
- Working knowledge of pre-OS phone operations.
- Working knowledge and use of cryptographic communications (RSA/AES)
- Working knowledge in Android OS/ Linux kernels, with sensitivity to core processing performance, memory utilization, and extensible architectures
- Strong knowledge of hardware interface, including but not limited to displays, cameras, serial interfaces (UART / SPI / I2C / USB) and wireless modules
- Working knowledge of Medical Device software development lifecycle (SDLC), IEC 62304
- Working knowledge of WIFI, Cellular, and Bluetooth development and integration
- Experience in working with Arm based processors, SOC’s, and various microcontrollers is a plus
- Experience with debugging device problems to a circuit board level using standard lab and measurement equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMM’s, Spectrum Analyzers, etc.) and debugging interfaces
- Working knowledge of other programming languages, like Java, C#, .Net environment is a plus
- Ability to interpret hardware schematics and datasheets
- Experience with systems engineering processes
- Beneficial hardware expertise includes wireless (RF) communication standards, analog and digital circuit design and bio-electrical interfaces.
- Good business communication skills. Position may require developing and giving presentations
- Willingness to learn with innovative disposition; ability to integrate new technology with new capabilities to solve problems and provide solutions.
- Detail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work
