JOB SUMMARY

We are currently seeking an Neurotechnology Researcher with neurotechnology or neuromodulation emphasis to join a team of accomplished researchers that are leading programs in neurotechnology, including the neural bridging program, NeuroLife, published in Nature and recipient of multiple R&D100 awards as well as a participant in the DARPA Next-Generation Nonsurgical Neurotechnology (N3) Program. This position is located in Columbus, OH.

The Neurotechnology Researcher will perform engineering research and analysis and support the creation of publications in refereed journals, conference presentations, grant submission, patents, and/or technology commercialization.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the fundamental science and understanding of novel neurotechnologies
  • Support the development of neurophysiological signal acquisition system
  • Author peer-reviewed publications
  • Support grant proposal efforts
  • Present research finding both internally and externally
  • Design and conduct clinical, pre-clinical and laboratory neurotechnology studies
  • Perform neurotechnology tasks and programs within defined scope, schedule and budget
  • Frequently interface with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, engineers, scientists, and clinicians
  • Support product development of neural technology sub-systems, including for example neural assistive and neural rehabilitative systems
  • Analyze complex neural data making use of signal processing techniques
  • Design software to interface with and process real time neurophysiological signals

 

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED

  • Masters in an Engineering, Life Science, or related discipline relevant to neurotechnology, neuromodulation OR Bachelors with at least 2 years of related experience.
  • Experience in supporting the development of neuromodulation technologies for peripheral nerve stimulation and recording, chronic pain management, motor/sensory related nerve signal decoding, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, brain computer interface applications, or deep brain stimulation.
  • Evidence of supporting thought leadership in neurotechnology as indicated by contributing in the creation of publications in refereed journals, conference presentations, patents, and/or technology commercialization.
  • Strong programming skills, in Matlab, Python, C/C++, or similar.
  • Experience in data analysis, familiarity with basic statistical methods, data visualizations, biological signal processing methods and algorithms.
  • Excellent technical writing skills as demonstrated by contributing to journal publications and grant proposals
  • Experience conducting technical tasks within interdisciplinary research and/or product development teams.
  • Demonstrated independent thought and ability to identify and resolve problems associated with the development and implementation of complex technologies.
  • Flexibility and agility to adapt to change while maintaining quality delivery to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a government clearence.

 

THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED

  • Experience with computational modeling for peripheral nerve stimulation, spinal cord stimulation or deep brain stimulation is preferred.
  • Understanding of the technical and regulatory requirements and processes associated with medical device development.
  • Experience in advanced neural signal processing in real-time with machine learning algorithms
  • Experience developing graphical user interfaces
  • Experience with running clinical studies and knowledge of IRB regulations is a plus
