Internship – Psychology of Language

Internship positions available between September 2020 and June 2021

Each year, the department offers multiple internship positions between September 1 and June 30. These internships are intended for BA or MA students who would like to gain experience in experimental psycholinguistics and/or cognitive modelling. We offer the opportunity to learn how to design, conduct, and analyze different types of experiments (collecting reaction times, eye tracking, or EEG data), or how to run a study using computational modelling.

Depending on how long they are at the department, students typically carry out a small self-contained project (background reading, designing a study, generating materials, testing adult participants or implementing computational models, analyzing results, reporting the results in writing and presenting them orally) in collaboration with one or more of our researchers.

The duration of the internship is flexible, with a minimum of 8 weeks. Unfortunately, we cannot contribute to the intern’s travel or living expenses. Applicants should have some prior training in experimental psychology or computational methods (including artificial intelligence, artificial neural network modelling), statistics and design, and good knowledge of English.

To apply for an internship during the next academic year (September 2020 – June 2021), please send your motivation letter, CV, and contact details for two references to Caitlin.Decuyper@mpi.nl before February 1, 2020.

If you have any questions about this position, you can contact Thy.Mathu@mpi.nl

Please note that formal applications for 2019-2020 have now closed, but you could still informally inquire, we may still be able to match you to a project or place you on the back-up list.

The Max Planck Society is an equal opportunity employer.
