
05 Feb Student Assistant – Empirical Aesthetics
The Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt, Germany, investigates the cognitive, affective, neuronal, and sociocultural foundations of aesthetic experience.
The Institute is currently seeking a Studentische Hilfskraft m/w/d (student assistant) for 10 hours a week in the Research Group “Neural and Environmental Rhythms” (PI: Molly J. Henry) to work on research projects related to the behavioral and neural foundations of stimulus–brain synchrony and auditory perception.
The student assistant will support a project using psychophysics, electroencephalography (EEG), and transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) to investigate the neural basis of stimulus‘–brain synchrony and auditory perception.
We are seeking a highly self-motivated individual who is willing to learn taking responsibility for research project execution and to familiarize with advanced experimental techniques.
Your responsibilities:
- Recruiting participants (contacting potential participants, distribution of flyers, etc.)
- Preparing experiments (instruct participants, prepare documents, etc.)
- Conducting experiments/collecting data
- Translating experiment material from English to German
Our Requirements:
- Bachelor or MSc student (neuroscience, psychology, engineering or related fields)
- Good command of German and fluent English (project communication language!)
- Good communication and organization skills
- Proficiency with office programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Interest in neuroscience, language, and music, and eagerness to learn
- Experience with EEG or behavioral studies and knowledge of MATLAB is a plus
The contract will be for 6 months (one Semester), with the possibility of extension, and is supposed to start as soon as possible.
