PostDoc – Speech and Language Learning

 

The Chang Lab at the University of California, San Francisco is currently seeking a full-time postdoc to work on a newly funded project that seeks to understand the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying learning of non-native speech sounds and words. The project takes a multimodal and integrative approach to questions about speech category representations, and utilizes high-density direct cortical recordings (electrocorticography; ECoG), scalp EEG, and both invasive and noninvasive stimulation methods.

 

Requirements

  • PhD in neuroscience, bioengineering, or related field
  • Exceptionally strong computational/engineering background
  • Skilled in Python or MATLAB
  • Background in one or more of the following areas: speech, language, learning, neurophysiology, machine learning

 

The position is in the lab of Dr. Edward Chang, MD. The lab is made up of faculty, postdocs, students, neurosurgeons, neurologists, and research assistants with diverse backgrounds in neuroscience, bioengineering, cognitive science, and medicine. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of productively leading and collaborating on creative and exciting projects.
