We are looking for a talented and passionate data engineer to join our engineering team developing and scaling our data processing applications.

You’ll join a team of engineers, media analysts and business professionals working hard to develop the most innovative technology to understand people’s emotional reactions.

Here your work will have visible results, it will be appreciated and will have a high impact on the whole company. Your proactive ideas will be heard and if they are good enough, you’ll receive all the support to implement them. What we do

• We develop and operate Synetiq’s video intelligence products from end to end. You will have the chance to work in a broad range of software engineering areas, like low-level sensor data processing, data pipelines, visualisations and databases.
• We value clean code and know how to write it. Code review (via GitHub) is an integral part of our development process.
• Our applications are built on open source software. We use various biometric sensors, Python, Docker, PostgreSQL, GitHub and several parts of the Google Cloud Platform.
• We work in an agile way. We do daily standups. Every two weeks we have sprint planning meetings, where every team member’s opinion is heard.

What we look for

• At least 4 years of work experience in a relevant technology role (software engineer, data engineer).
• Be passionate about software engineering, be strongly driven to build a data-driven working product.
• Be open and eager to learn or introduce new technologies. Be curious about what’s happening in the (tech) world.
• Excellent coding skills, solid understanding of at least one mainstream programming language like Java, C++, Python or Javascript. We mainly work with Python, so some experience with Python is preferred.
• Experience with mainstream, open source workflow management tools like Luigi or Airflow.
• You should be familiar with the Linux command line.
• Some experience with cloud providers is appreciated (our software is built on GCP).
• Confident command of the software engineering toolset like source control (like SVN, Git or Mercurial), build and deployment tools (like
• Gradle or Docker) and IDEs (like Eclipse or IntelliJ IDEA).

What we expect from you

• Take part in the full development lifecycle of Synetiq’s processing pipeline: write code, review others’ code, test, deploy, troubleshoot and operate software.
• Be an active member of the agile engineering team, contribute to stand ups and planning meetings. Observe the way Synetiq works, continuously think about and proactively suggest improvements in technology as well as in other areas.
• Provide end-to-end technical support for Synetiq’s data processing pipeline.
