Who we are
 
We use both theoretical and experimental approaches to investigate sensory and sensory motor transforms in the brain. Our multidisciplinary approaches involve theoretical hypotheses making, model building, behavioral experiments on humans and animals, and neuroscience experiments to examine brain’s neural activities. One part of our group is located in the University, in the Center for Integrative Neurosciences, and the other part is in the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics as the Department for Sensory and Sensorimotor Systems, see http://www.kyb.tuebingen.mpg.de/research/dep/zl.html. This job opening is for the sub-group located at the University, Center for Integrative Neurosciences (CIN) focusing on behavioral, electrophysiological, and imaging experiments on rodents. The salary is paid in accordance with the collective agreement for the public sector (up to TV-L E13, depending on qualifications). This position is initially limited to three years, but can be extended or even made permanent, depending on suitability. For further information, please contact Prof. Li Zhaoping.
 
 
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include:
  • Help to plan research projects.
  • Carry out research projects, such as conducting experiments, data analysis, writing and editing scientific papers/reports.
  • Help to mentor and supervise student projects.
  • Participate in scientific conferences
  • Help to organize and conduct collaborations with our collaborators in the university as well as internationally
  • Supervise and coordinate with lab manager for strategies and planning
  • Since the position is provided by the University of Tübingen, you also have a teaching obligation of 4 hours per week during the lecture period (4 SWS) with the possibility for a further qualification (Habilitation).
 
 
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in neuroscience or related fields
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience with animal handling/ behavior (German Animal Permit such as Felasa would be advantageous)
  • Electrophysiology
  • Neural imaging
  • Viral tracer injections
  • Optogenetics
  • Programming experience in Matlab and/or Python is desirable.
  • Various molecular, genetics, optical, and data acquisition and analysis techniques
  • Experience in project management
