Computer Scientist/Data Scientist (80% – 100%) Working in the Field of Adaptive Instructional Design

 
The Swiss Distance University of Applied Sciences (FFHS), offers business Bachelor-, Master- as well as continuing education courses according to the blended learning method.
 
Since autumn 2016, she has been running the UNESCO Chair on Personalized and Adaptive Distance Education located in Brig (Switzerland). Its research group develops technology-based learning designs and investigates relationships the connections to their implementation in Switzerland and on the African continent.
 
To strengthen the team we are looking for a new member at our location in Brig from September or by mutual agreement:
 
Computer Scientist / Data Scientist (80%-100%) working in the field of Adaptive Instructional Design
 
 
Tasks:
Your main task is to participate in national and international experimental investigations and field studies. In this context, you will develop components of adaptive technology-based learning and intelligent tutoring systems with other researchers. You participate in investigations and support the chair in the initiation and handling of research projects.
 
 
We expect:
  • Completed education at the Master’s degree in Computer Science or Social Science with an additional qualification in Data Science (preferably doctorate)
  • Fundamental theoretical and methodical knowledge in statistics and research methodology
  • Experience in dealing with the analysis of data systems e.g. log files of learning management systems
  • Interests in research questions in the field of technology-based learning
  • Interests and pleasure in publishing and teaching
  • Communication and social skills
  • Flexibility and resilience as well as willingness to work in an international context
  • Good English (and if possible German) language skills
