17 Jun PostDoc – Developmental Processes in the Maturing Prefrontal Cortex
Postdoctoral Position available in the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute.
Our goal is to understand how developmental processes in the maturing prefrontal cortex at the adolescent/adult transition can affect livelong motivation under both appetitive and aversive conditions.
Our recent work has focused on studying/manipulating the sensitivity prefrontal pyramidal neurons to serotonergic signaling (through 5-HT1A receptors) during this adolescent/adult transition. To achieve our goal, we employ a wide variety of experimental techniques, including behavioral approaches, electrophysiology, fiber photometry, optogenetics and circuit tracing.
Successful candidates will have a PhD/MD or equivalent in neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology or equivalent. Candidates with experience using optical imaging techniques, and/or electrophysiology, and/or experience with operant animal behavior are encouraged to apply.
Please send a CV, list of three references and a brief cover letter.
