Microfluidics / Microfabrication Engineer
Tasks
We are seeking a microfluidics / microfabrication engineer to:
- Lead the design, fabrication and testing of microfluidic components required by the different verticals.
- Design quality control procedures for biochips and other microfluidics components
- Work closely with strategic partners to establish manufacturing plans and QC procedures.
- Interact with other researchers, and design tools and experimental procedures to assist them.
Qualifications and skills
- M.Sc. or PhD in micro- or nano-fabrication, microfluidics, optofluidics or closely related discipline demonstrating a strong theoretical understanding of the underlying physics.
- Solid knowledge of QCAD, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, OnShape or other CAD frameworks.
- Proficiency in Matlab, COMSOL, or other microfluidics simulation packages.
- Mastery of microfabrication techniques, including photolithography, soft lithography,etc…
- Working knowledge of associated tools and instruments, including microscopes,pressure controllers, actuators, etc…
- Proficient in a programming language practical for data processing and analysis,such as python or MATLAB and for automation, such as Labview.
- Hands-on experience with biological samples, proteins, cells, etc… is a strong plus.
- Experience with optics, electronics and prototyping instruments around microfluidics,especially in the industry, is a strong plus.
- You are an effective team player with excellent oral communication skills to both scientific and non-scientific audiences. You are an excellent experimentalist with a demonstrated track-record of productivity.
- You can quickly trouble-shoot technical difficulties, maintain excellent scientific records, and clearly communicate your results to a non-scientific audience.
- You are keen to lead and mentor junior engineers with a clear focus and direction.
