Senior PCB Design Engineer / FPGA, Verilog

 

Tasks

Thus far, high speed data acquisition and processing in our prototypes has been done using off-the-shelf FPGA boards. We are looking to transition from this phase to custom boards that fit our needs better, and are looking for a talented electrical engineer to:

  • Understand the current prototype, especially the choice of components, PCB designand verilog code, and optimize/consolidate the design for performance and manufacturing.
  • Propose alternative designs/technologies to increase data acquisition and processing to thousands of channels.
  • Communicate validated verilog modules to integrated circuit design team.
  • Constantly identify design improvements and be able to rapidly integrate newdesign ideas.
  • Maintain hardware version control documentation.

 

Qualifications and skills

  • M.Sc. or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience, especially in bringing prototypes and proof-of concept stage designs to an industrial or production-ready stage.
  • Complete knowledge of PCB design best practices and familiarity with common design tools (ideally open source, like KiCad).
  • Working knowledge of Verilog/VHDL code deployed on FPGA systems.
  • Experience with optical components and sensors is a strong plus.
  • Working knowledge of PCB assembly.
  • Experience interfacing with biological systems is a plus, though not required.
