The Junior Professorship for Neurocognitive Developmental Psychology of the Department for Psychology at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg is looking for a
Scientific employee / PhD student (m/f/d)
65 % (26.07h/week), grade TV-L E 13
to work with Prof. Dr. Louisa Kulke on the DFG-funded project “Overt and covert attention to emotional faces in realistic social situations”. The anticipated start date for this 3-year limited contract is 1st November 2020 or as soon as possible after this date.
The project investigates attention to emotional stimuli in social and non-social situations, using combinations of EEG and eye-tracking as well as mobile eye-tracking in realistic situations. It aims to investigate how gaze and neural responses differ when adult participants interact in real-life situations, compared to controlled laboratory tasks. The candidate‘s tasks include
- Planning and conducting studies with EEG, eye-tracking and mobile eye-tracking
- Data analysis and presentation
- Publication in international journals
- Working as part of a team
- Involvement in supervision of student research assistants and interns
Required qualifications:
The candidate should show a great interest in the research topics investigated at the Junior Professorship of Neurocognitive Developmental Psychology, in particular in research on attention in social situations. The candidate should have a general interest in scientific research, which orients on Open Science principles. In addition to great social skills, team and communication skills and the ability to work independently and conscientiously, the candidate should have the following qualifications:
- Above average Masters (or equivalent) degree in Psychology or a related discipline relevant to the project at the time of employment
- Very good knowledge of methods and statistics, experience with statistics software (e.g.R)
- Programming skills (e.g. in Matlab, Python/Psychopy and/or R) or the willingness to acquire such skills
- Good command of the German and English language
Beneficial qualifications:
- Experience with psychological / experimental studies on human participants
- Experience with the use of eye-tracking and/ or EEG
- Experience with the analysis of EEG and/ or eye-tracking data (e.g. in Matlab)
