01 Oct Senior Neural Network Engineer, Co-Founder
tldr: if you live and breathe neural networks, and get excited by the bionic limbs in Ghost in the Shell or Deus Ex… then read on because that’s what we’re making, and you should 100% apply. Atom Limbs is making limb loss a thing of the past. This is true high tech.
How much experience do you need?
Our arm is a $100,000 piece of equipment with 20+ joints, 15+ actuators, and hundreds of internal sensors. And requires FDA medical device clearance. You should have 10+ years experience playing in these worlds. Use your best judgment.
Who are you?
A neural network/ML software engineer hungry to solve one problem: today our arm moves well, but isn’t fully convincingly human. You will make it indistinguishable from human arm movement.
- You’ve used deep neural networks on robotics or electronics in the past (CNN, RNN, ec)
- You have a solid understanding of math fundamentals
- You want to find the uncanny valley of replicating human arm movement… and leap over it
- You can seamlessly hop between Python, Java, Scala, Tensorflow, even in the face of tight space and time constraints
- The idea of using your skillset to help people in a profound way gets you excited.
What’s the day-to-day look like?
You’re primarily responsible for taking what our pre-clinical team learned from initial machine learning, and augmenting that with neural networks to replicate real human arm movement. This will involve:
- Developing machine learning models & deep learning neural networks
- Developing code to synchronize robotic arm and human nerves to the millisecond accuracy, coordinating between human intent and an array of endpoints to replicate real human movement
- Working closely with designers & engineers regarding prototypes
- Working closely with patients to deeply understand their feedback
- Working closely with me (hi I’m Tyler, the CEO) every day towards that goal
