Analog Layout Designer and Verification Engineer

iota Biosciences, Inc., a Berkeley-based medical device start-up developing novel bioelectronic diagnostics and therapies, is looking to hire a highly motivated engineer with skills in analog and mixed-signal layout and circuit verification.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering clean layout
  • Working closely with a small team of circuit designers to plan layout and discuss necessary layout trade-offs necessary to build complex mixed-signal layouts
  • Running a suite of design verification tools (DRC, LVS, and extraction)
  • Post-extraction verification of block-level analog and mixed-signal designs
  • Working with analog and system IC designers to understand block-level requirements
  • You will lay out circuit blocks and hierarchies and document them towards formal layout and design reviews
  • Test and debug chips after they return from fabrication

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: BS or BE in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics or Cadence tools for layout and parasitic extraction
  • Familiarity with analog layout
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with multi-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: MS in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Integrated Circuits, or 2+ years of industry layout
  • Experience in layout and extraction of low-power designs
  • Experience building tightly matched, low parasitic, low-power analog blocks, resistors, capacitors, digital-to-analog converters, pad I/Os, ESD structures, etc.
  • Understanding of IR drop, RC delay, and interconnect parasitic capacitance
  • Strong experience with DFM practices
  • Proficiency in interpreting Calibre, DRC, ERC, and LVS reports
  • Working experience with oscilloscopes, FPGAs, microcontrollers, signal generators for validation and testing of analog design
  • Previous experience designing biomedical electronics
  • Familiarity with CentOS7/RHEL 7 Linux
