Job Description

Biogen Healthcare Solutions (BHS) is an innovation unit of Biogen dedicated to pioneering NeuroTech to improve care for people living with neurological diseases. We develop digital health solutions for patients and HCPs in neuroscience at a global scale. BHS is investing in Open Innovation in order to collaborate with external partners in the tech and digital field to pioneer NeuroTech. To develop the growth of our newly formed NeuroTech Open Innovation Global team, we are looking for an outstanding Sr. Manager in charge of Global NeuroTech Partnerships to join our world-class NeuroTech team as we are expanding into Open Innovation and new strategic domains (healthtech, medical, digital biomarkers, AI, and more) focused on delivering value to our customers in Neurosciences at global scale. We are looking for an exceptional individual that will be primarily responsible for leading startups and other partners (academic, tech, etc.) collaborations, from validation, deal closing and integration management to accelerate Biogen leadership in NeuroTech.

The ideal candidate has a strong partnership track record and skills, exceptional communicator, highly experienced and with strong connections in the startups’ environment (ideally in the neuroscience/healthtech sector). The candidate will be responsible to design and generate new partnerships and partnership models. The candidate will collaborate on building the vision, strategy and operations needed to establish external partnerships that support our corporate strategic goals. She/ He will also be responsible for Global strategic partnerships with external companies in areas of importance to the open innovation strategy.

Principal Accountabilities

• Structures and negotiates business agreements. These may include confidentiality, material transfer, collaboration, in-license, out-license, development, supply, and marketing/distribution agreements.
• Seeks out new product opportunities in BDB’s key focus areas. This may involve attending scientific conferences, reading scientific publications, and interacting with academic technology transfer offices and Business Development groups at other companies.
• Works with other BDB functions (R&D, Marketing, Medical/ Scientific Affairs, Finance, Legal, IP, etc.) to evaluate the benefits and risks of bringing new technologies into BDB for development and commercialization.
• Works with Finance and Marketing to build financial business cases demonstrating the potential value of new technologies and associated products.
• Manages long-term relationships with external collaborators and other partners.
• Represents Business Development on cross-functional BDB teams, including platform, program, and strategy teams.

Qualifications

• Masters or MBA
• Minimum of 10 years of business development experience in the life sciences, medical device, and/or pharmaceutical industries, strategy consultancy; venture capital or general management of digital health company
• Demonstrated track record of success structuring and negotiating business agreements (confidentiality, material transfer, collaboration, in-license, out-license, development, supply, and marketing/distribution agreements).
• Experience with intellectual property licensing is highly desirable.
• Experience in Global innovation roles leading by influence
• Experience leading cross-functional collaboration internally and externally
• Prior experience in digital medicine and healthtech is a must
