We welcome applications from outstanding candidates with expertise in neural engineering, computational biomedical engineering, cell/tissue engineering and biomaterials, as well as medical devices. Applicants with demonstrated expertise in neural engineering or machine learning will be of particular interest. Appointments will be generally made at assistant professor level, but exceptional candidates at a more advanced level will also be considered. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or a related field, have evidence of excellence in research and dedication to teaching and mentoring. Successful candidates will be expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, have strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring, and initiate interdisciplinary and collaborative research. Carnegie Mellon promotes collaboration, and thus we welcome applicants with an interest in a joint position with another Department across the College of Engineering. We highly value applicants who are driven to nurture an inclusive and culturally diverse environment in our Department and, more broadly, at Carnegie Mellon. We will actively seek a diverse applicant pool in terms of gender, race, veteran status, and disability. Please use the following link https://apply.interfolio.com/79371 to apply for the position, including a letter of application, a complete curriculum vitae, a statement of research plan, a statement of teaching interests, and a statement of contributions to and plans to enhance diversity. You should also request 3-5 professional references through the confidential letter request function in Interfolio system. You may wish to send an email to each of your letter writers to alert them that they will receive an automated email from Interfolio requesting that they upload their letter of recommendation (sometimes the automated Interfolio emails are mistaken for spam). Review of applications will begin immediately and all applications received by December 1, 2020 will be given full consideration. The positions will be open until filled.
