
27 Jan Synthetic Biology/Pathway Engineer
Tasks
We want you to help us build the next generation of genetically modified cellular sensors. You can help us achieve the following :
- Understand native pathways of interest and possible bottlenecks when implemented in non native cell types using simulations and modeling tools.
- Design and implement synthetic pathways to achieve specific performance features, such as faster signaling, increased signal-to-noise, shortened refractory period, etc.
- Collaborate with protein engineers and experimenters to include in your designs synthetic proteins with enhanced interaction and activity, altered targeting to specific sub-cellular locations, increased stability, etc…
- Communicate and transfer validated pathways to cell line engineers.
Qualifications and skills
- Ph.D. with a strong background in Synthetic Biology, System Biology, Pathway engineering or similar.
- 3+ years laboratory experience, preferably in the industry, in engineering pathways.
- Experience in team leadership, with prior customer-facing experience.
- An effective team player with excellent oral communication skills to both scientific and non-scientific audiences. You are an excellent experimentalist with a demonstrated track-record of productivity.
- You can quickly trouble-shoot technical difficulties, maintain excellent scientific records and clearly communicate your results to a non-scientific audience. We expect you to do some travel to our secondary sites and clients for extended periods as necessary ( 4 weeks total per year) – US, Europe, Asia and Africa.
- You are keen to lead and mentor junior biologists with a clear focus and direction.
