The lab of Dr. J. Tiago Gonçalves at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx borough of New York City is looking to hire a research trainee.

Our research aims to understand how experience and neuronal activity contribute to the differentiation of adult neural stem cells, as well as the circuit integration and the function of adult-born neurons in the dentate gyrus. The lab uses variety of cutting-edge neuroscience techniques, such as in-vivo 2-photon imaging with simultaneous behavioral testing and in-vivo electrophysiology/optogenetics, to study the integration of newborn neurons into the circuitry of the mouse hippocampus.

• Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in biology, physics, engineering or related fields along with a strong interest in neuroscience research.
• Previous experience in a research lab, and excellent organizational skills are also required.
• Experience in rodent handling and/or computer programming (MATLAB, Python, C++) is preferred but not necessarily required.
