Position Summary:

This position involves synthesizing customer needs, business needs, and technology expertise into a system design and product development and implementation plans for the next generation of Inspire products. This position will also provide functional technical input for therapy and product system design as well as support continuation engineering as required.

 

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide systems expertise for new products as well as changes to existing products with a focus on embedded signal processing algorithms
  • Specify, design, implement, verify, validate, debug and support signal processing algorithms, software tools and utilities
  • Engage in design reviews to ensure designs meet or exceed implementation, testing, scalability, and maintainability best practice guidelines
  • Support clinical research study planning, development, and execution
  • Support product risk management activities in compliance with ISO 14971
  • Ensure all quality system, regulatory, legal, and business requirements are met in the course of product development and market delivery 
  • Support post market (commercial) product and/or therapy related investigations as well as CAPA activities and implementations 
  • Support Inspire customers as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical, software, or electrical engineering or related field. 

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in biomedical, software, or electrical engineering or related field. 
Required Experience:
  • 2 – 10 years of work experience in software or signal processing development
  • Ability to efficiently specify, design, implement, verify, validate, and support high quality algorithms 
  • Experience developing algorithms and tools in MATLAB, Python, and C++
Preferred Experience:
  • Active implantable or Class III medical product development experience 
  • Understanding of systems engineering processes
  • Understanding of embedded signal processing algorithms for physiologic signals
  • Understanding of embedded software development and testing 
  • Understanding of software and systems considerations for clinical research 
  • Understanding of usability standards and integration of them into the product development process 
  • Experience with industry standards for medical devices such as ISO 14971, ISO 14708, EN 45502, IEC 60601, IEC 62304, IEC 62366 etc.
  • Understanding of 21 CFR 820 requirements as well as ISO 13485 requirements for design, development and manufacturing
