Positions Available

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Vytas Verselis to study the mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of syndromic, sensorineural deafness caused by mutations in the GJB2 gene encoding connexin26 (Cx26). The project incorporates electrophysiological and fluorescence imaging studies of functional mutants in exogenous expression systems and extends to studies of mouse models with inducible expression of functional variants driven by the GJB2 promoter. Applicants with experience with mouse cochlear preparations and mouse models of human genetic disorders are desired. A collaborative project includes the development of specific Cx channel blockers as avenues for treatment. The successful candidate must have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree, with a track record of research excellence. Interested applicants are asked to submit a curriculum vitae, a brief summary of research background and the names and contact information of references to vytas.verselis@einsteinmed.org.
