We are currently seeking:

Research Associate: Telemedical cognitive testing

Location: Home office and Downtown Berkeley, CA 94704

Description:

Neurobehavioral Systems, Inc. (NBS, www.neurobs. com) is seeking a full-time research associate to assist in gathering data and refining telemedically administered computerized cognitive tests to detect subjects at risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. The research is funded in part by the NIH.

Responsibilities:

• Recruit and screen subjects by telephone to evaluate eligibility
• Deliver and retrieve test kits to/from subjects’ homes
• Schedule subjects for at-home testing
• Explain experimental procedures to subjects
• Administer at-home cognitive tests using telemedical technology
• Keep careful records of subject participation and data collection

Qualifications:

• A BA/BS or MA in neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, linguistics, or related disciplines
• Research experience working with human subjects
• A driver’s license and vehicle to deliver and retrieve test materials
• Strong computer skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction
• Strong analytical, reasoning, scientific writing, and organizational skills
• Qualified to work in the US for three years

Preferred but not essential:

• Experience working with elderly individuals
• Some conversational ability in Spanish
• Experience with the analysis of behavioral data
• Research publications

Opportunities: There will be ample opportunities for authorship in collaboration with scientists at NBS, UC Davis, and the VA.
Compensation: The position offers a competitive salary and employee benefits in an academic-style, start-up atmosphere. The employee will be expected to work largely from a home office during the COVID-19 pandemic. NBS central offices are located in downtown Berkeley, CA, about 100 yards from the UC Berkeley Campus.
