Postdoctoral Researcher – Systems Neuroscience

[Systems Neuroscience / Integrating function, structure, and molecular identity of habenula neurons]

An NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow position focused on linking the function, structure, and molecular identity of habenula neurons is available in the laboratory of Dr. Steven Shabel, in the Psychiatry Department at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

• This work will integrate calcium imaging of individual habenula neurons during reward-based behavior with molecular identification of the same neurons in transgenic mice.
• The successful candidate will collaborate with optics and transcriptomics experts at UT Southwestern to optimize these approaches for the habenula.
• Candidates must hold Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree. Systems neuroscience research with a track record of leading projects to publication is preferred.
• Candidates who have experience with in vivo imaging/recording techniques in rodents are strongly encouraged to apply.
