Technician/Research Assistant (f/m/d)

for a full-time post with a regular weekly working time of 40 hours a week, initially limited until 12/01/2021 within the framework of a maternity leave replacement commencing as soon as possible.

An extension of employment can be envisaged for the period of parental leave and, in the case of personal suitability, until probably 11/2021. This position in Professor Kristine Krug’s Research Group is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (EFRE).

Our projects focus on the neural signals underlying perceptual decisions and their interactions in wider brain networks in primates. This new work requires the exploration and development of high-field MRI (at 7T) in non-human primates in combination with experimental neurophysiology and intervention methods. The post is embedded in a well-supported research group and is linked into a wider network of collaborators in MRI, intervention methods and neurophysiology.

We seek a technical assistant/research assistant for computer-controlled, MRI experiments with nonhuman primates. Your tasks cover the preparation and conduct of experiments, storage and analysis of data, and coordination of laboratory organisation.

Your profile:

  • You completed an apprenticeship as a technical assistant or a Bachelor degree in a science-related field like natural science or engineering
  • You have experience with MRI or neurophysiological methods or in operating/programming computerized tasks and you are motivated to learn new techniques in which training will be provided
  • You have experience in the set-up and operation of databases, and with data handling
  • You are able to work independently as well as part of a team, have organizational talent, social competence and communicate well with others
  • Because our group is international, you should have good communication skills in English

If you have questions about the advertised position, please contact Prof. Kristine Krug (phone +49 391 67 55064) or write an email to Kristine.Krug@lin-magdeburg.de.

Your employment, salary and employee benefits comply with the collective pay agreement (German TV-L). Equal opportunities as well as compatibility of family and work are part of our HR policy. Applications from disabled persons will be given priority in the case of equal suitability, ability and
professional expertise.

We are looking forward to your electronic application. Please send one PDF file with your complete application comprising covering letter with experience and motivation for this post, CV, and the name of two referees quoting your earliest possible starting date, your salary requirements and the reference number LIN 2020/SenPhy01 by May 15th, 2020 (date of receipt of application) to sensoryphysiology@lin-magdeburg.de.
