The Department of Radiology and the Research Imaging Institute (RII) of the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio are seeking an outstanding candidate for a position at the Assistant/Associate Professor/Research rank with expertise in biomedical imaging, computational imaging and machine learning as it applies to radiology.
The RII staff includes experimental scientists in the fields of neuroscience, cardio-metabolic research, physics, radiochemistry and computational science. Imaging resources include two 3T Siemens MRI systems, 3 Bruker MRI systems (7T-12T), two PET systems and cyclotrons and radiochemistry laboratories. Users of the RII’s resources are world renown scientists at established research facilities in San Antonio including the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Disease, the Southwest National Primate Research center, the Texas Diabetes Institute and the Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies.
- A PH.D in physics, biomedical or electrical engineering or a related field is required.
- The candidate should have first hand experience in MR Physics, pulse sequence programming and image reconstruction algorithms.
- It is expected that the candidate has had experience with the Siemens IDA/ICE environment or equivalent on other platforms, and a strong proficiency with C/C++.
- Experience with the MATLAB programming environment is also desired.
The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of researchers at the RII and will be expected to develop collaborative programs and teach graduate students while mentoring research fellows and other investigators. A clinical research background with certification by either the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic medical Physics or the American Board of Medical Physics in Magnetic Resonance Imaging Physics is considered a plus.
