
24 Mar Research Assistant/Associate in Computational Neuroscience x 2 (Fixed Term)
A position exists, for one or more Research Assistants/Associates in the Department of Engineering, to work on neural circuit models of hippocampal memory storage and recall.
The post holder will be located in Central Cambridge Cambridgeshire, UK.
The key responsibilities and duties are conducting research in computational cognitive science, and taking part in other research-related activities (eg. journal clubs) as well as teaching-related activities (eg. supervisions).
- The successful candidates will have a strong analytical background, demonstrable interest in computational cognitive science, and expertise with computational models of the brain or cognition, and have obtained (or be close to the completion of) a PhD or equivalent in computational neuroscience, physics, mathematics, computer science, machine learning or a related field.
- Demonstrable research experience with any of the following (the more the better): behavioural data analysis, Bayesian inference and learning, models of learning and memory, models of recurrent E-I neural circuits, and Hebbian plasticity.
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in computational cognitive science, and sufficient programming skills to run numerical simulations (eg. in MatLab or Python).
Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD (or equivalent). Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.
Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £26,715 – £30,942 Research Associate: £32,816 – £40,322
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
