The Alzheimer’s Research UK Drug Discovery Institute (ARUK DDI), located at University College London (UCL), is a multidisciplinary group of screening scientists, neurobiologists and medicinal chemists who have the goal of finding new therapies for neurodegenerative disease. As part of the Queen Square Institute of Neurology, it is integrated into the world-renowned UCL Neuroscience community and aligned with the Dementia Research Institute at UCL.

We are looking for a Research Technician to join our team and to play a key role in developing and running novel target based drug discovery assays. The appointee will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and running of phenotypic screens using neural cell culture models, using imaging, functional or molecular techniques.

The post is available from 1 April 2021 and is funded by a grant from ARUK for the period to 31 October 2025 in the first instance.

 

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will have an Honours degree in a biological science and proficiency in cell culture. Good inter-personal skills with an ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary setting and IT proficiency at advanced user level are essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required. Experience of working in a drug discovery setting (pharma, biotech, academic drug discovery centre) and in running compound screening assays and/or siRNA screening assays is desirable.
