We are looking for a Research Assistant to join our team at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research studying the role of sphingolipids in a range of neurodegenerative and immune diseases. This is a 2-year Wellcome Trust-funded post in the laboratory of Dr Janet Deane. We encourage applications from scientists with a background in biochemistry and cell biology who have a keen interest in developing cell-based discoveries into molecular insights.
- The post holder must possess a BSc degree (or equivalent) in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or a related field
- Must also have laboratory experience in protein biochemistry and/or cell biology.
- Although substantial training will be provided, additional experience in lipid biochemistry and/or proximity-based labelling techniques would be an advantage.
- An understanding of membrane trafficking and/or lysosomal biology would be advantageous.
- The candidate must have great attention to detail and excellent record keeping.
- They must also have good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to communicate their work clearly in both formal and informal settings.
- Due to the multidisciplinary and supportive nature of the laboratory enthusiastic candidates will have the opportunity to learn additional techniques to expand their research skills.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
