Technical Associate I
Research – Scientific · Full-Time Temporary · No Visa Sponsorship Available
Start date: Summer 2021
We are looking for a technical associate to join our lab to assist in carrying out a wide range of projects. Our lab is an engaging and supportive environment focused on scientific excellence, mentoring, and career development. Previous technical associates from our lab have gone on to medical school or MD-PhD programs. We strongly believe in equal opportunity and encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply.
Description:
Responsibilities will include behavioral experiments, neuronal recording/imaging, surgery, and microscopy. Additional responsibilities could include data analysis and computational modeling. The position is closely integrated into different ongoing projects in our lab and has the opportunity to develop an independent research component. It would be an ideal opportunity for someone looking to learn a broad range of methods in neuroscience while developing both research and career skills in a cutting edge, supportive, and inclusive environment before applying to graduate school.
Requirements:
A scientific or engineering bachelor’s degree; at least two years of relevant research experience; willingness to work with rodents; basic quantitative reasoning skills; excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills; and ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Some experience with statistical data analysis, signal processing, and/or computational modeling would be useful, but is not required.
Environment:
We oppose all forms of discrimination and especially encourage applications from individuals with non-traditional backgrounds, career paths, and from underrepresented groups. Mentoring is a key organizational principle in our lab. Our technicians receive in-depth support for their work and for their development as scientists and human beings.
This is a two-year appointment with the possibility of extension based upon funding and project need.
