The Neuroscience Department at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research is committed to developing transformative therapies to treat such disorders.
We are seeking a highly motivated lab-based scientist to join the In Vivo Electrophysiology lab. The individual will design and execute experiments in genetic and pharmacological rodent models using in vivo electrophysiology to support multiple programs in neuropsychiatric, neurodevelopmental, and neurodegenerative disorders.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Design and execute in vivo electrophysiology-based experiments in freely moving rodents
- Perform extensive hands-on work including animal handling, dosing, and surgical procedures
- Work collaboratively in a highly matrix environment to deliver output in a timely manner
- Analyze and interpret data and present findings to multidisciplinary teams

Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences or related discipline
- 0-2 years of laboratory-based experience in industry or academia
- Outstanding proficiency in animal handling and dosing therapeutic compounds via multiple routes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Strong organizational skills and superb attention to detail
- Eagerness and ability to learn new techniques and expand skillset
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed documentation
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with in vivo or ex vivo electrophysiology (e.g., EEG, multi-unit recordings) and/or knowledge of technical aspects required for acquiring in vivo signals from freely moving rodents
- Ability to use MATLAB to process and analyze EEG signals; programming experience in MATLAB is a plus
- Knowledge of stereotaxic surgeries and post-operative care
