Position Summary:
The Psychology Department at Colorado College invites applications for a one-year visiting Assistant Professor with a specialty in neuroscience beginning in Fall 2023. The successful candidate will demonstrate strengths in any substantive field in neuroscience (including but not limited to systems, cognitive, sensory, affective, social, cellular/molecular, or quantitative neuroscience, or neuroanatomy).
The candidate must exhibit the potential for excellence in teaching to a diverse community of undergraduate students and should be a strong quantitative methodologist who is able to contribute to the curriculum for neuroscience and psychology majors at introductory and advanced levels.
Courses at Colorado College are taught on the block plan in which students take, and faculty teach, one course at a time for 3 ½ weeks. The teaching load is five courses plus one undergraduate thesis/research advising block. Teaching responsibilities include 2 blocks of introduction to psychology, a topical mid-level course, a seminar in the candidate’s area of expertise, and a first-year foundations course (CC100/120).
The candidate must share our Antiracism Commitment and actively broadening participation in STEM fields by historically underrepresented groups.
Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of excellence in teaching is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications: A PhD in neuroscience or related field. ABDs will be considered
