Want to create technologies that decipher the causes of disease, or the technologies to heal disease? If you do, multiple postdoctoral positions are available in the Shemesh Lab (Counter-Disease-Engineering Group), Departments of Neurobiology and Bioengineering, The University of Pittsburgh (https://www.neurobio.pitt.edu/people/or-shemesh).
The work will fuse several scientific disciplines, including molecular biology, bioengineering, electrical engineering, nanotechnology, synthetic biology and neuroscience. Research is impact driven and your ideas are appreciated. Expect to create a new discipline.
No prior experience is needed, just a passion for science, experimental audacity and an open mind. PhD in related field required.
Projects include, but are not limited to:
- Creating technologies to actuate pathologies of the brain at single or subcellular resolution.
- Reading out the pathologies and cell fate from the live brain.
- Novel types of prosthetic limbs and interfaces.
- Nanoscale resolution characterization of disease related subcellular markers.
- Targeted Gene therapy technologies.
- Technologies to reverse the course of brain diseases.
