As part of the Digital Skills for Youth Program coordinated by Communautique, NeuroTechX is looking for a WordPress Web Developer [Internship].

NeuroTechX (NTX) is the largest international community for neurotechnology enthusiasts. Comprising a global community of over 16,000 members, NTX is a non-profit organization whose mission is to facilitate the advancement of neurotechnology by providing key resources and learning opportunities, and by being leaders in local and global technological initiatives. Each year, NTX hosts more than 100 gatherings globally across 30+ Chapters. Across 13 initiatives such as our chapters, our neurotech student clubs, our job board, our educational platform, our newsletter, our upcoming book, our Slack platform, we are addressing our 3 core pillars: Community, Education, Innovation.

We are currently looking for a Web Developer to help us update and upgrade our website!

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Reviewing & Improving current Web Architecture;
• Improving UX and Scalability; 
• Integrating User Profiles into UX;
• Migrating our NTX Student Clubs website (github pages) over to our main website;
• Website Maintenance;
• Front-End and Back-End development;

Ideal Profile

• Web experience with a portfolio of past projects
• WordPress experience with examples to show
• Experience on server side (i.e. hosting, DNS, DBs)
• Full-stack skills to work on front-end layout and design as well as back-end infrastructure
• Autonomous and efficient in a work-from-home environment with flexible schedules

Length : 24 weeks (~6 months)

Start Date : As soon as possible

Salary : $17-20/h (depending on experience)

Schedule : 35h/week (full time)

Location: Remote (from Canada – see eligibility criteria below)

As part of the internship, the intern will participate to a series of training coordinated by Communautique.

Eligibility criteria for the Digital Skills for Youth Internship Program

• Be between 15 and 30 years old at the beginning of the internship
• Have completed post-secondary studies
• Have the legal right to work in Canada
• Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a person with refugee status in Canada
• Not receive employment insurance (EI) during the internship
• Self-assess as underemployed, that is, employed below their level of education or holding a part-time job
• Not have already participated in a digital skills for youth program.
