A digital health company focused on sleep products that actively improve health and wellness is seeking an energetic, innovative CTO to join our team and guide our technical product development. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to dive deep into technical issues and stepping back to address problems with systems-level thinking.  He/she should have practical experience translating hard science into software, hardware, and electrical design and be excited about converting research insights into products that improve daily life.

Responsibilities

Provide technical vision and pragmatic decision-making to help drive our product to early success. Be the key steward of product development through iterative early development, beta interactions with customers and transition to manufacturing at scale.     This role will begin with a high level of individual contribution and is expected to transition to higher portions of time spent in management as the team grows.

Outcomes:

• Play an active role in product vision and determining what product/market opportunities will be most successful for the organization balancing near and long-term opportunities
• Work hands-on both leading and as a strong individual contributor in the development of iterative algorithms, software and hardware prototypes
• Identify and recruit key talent to get our products built and tested
• Keep product development momentum high by anticipating future bottlenecks & development threats and resolving them proactively
• Work closely with product management and marketing to ensure consistent customer experience throughout product lifecycles

• Passion to make a positive impact on the health of our customers and sleep science
• A strong track record of success in technical execution and management
• Experience leading teams from prototyping to manufacturing
• Ability to balance complex tradeoffs and make challenging decisions when information is limited
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Be comfortable working with a broad range of technical talent, including software, electrical and mechanical engineers, firmware developers, industrial and product designers
• Extensive experience with Python, including common stats/science libraries: NumPy, SciPy, etc.
• Experience with C/C++
• Experience with complex signal processing & noise reduction
• Experience with hardware, electrical engineering, circuit design, and/or firmware development
• Experience with large-scale data warehousing and mining large datasets for insights
• Experience with EEG, other forms of neuroimaging and/or wearables
