Clinical Research Associate

 

Advanced Brain Monitoring is currently searching for a Clinical Research Associate for our office located in Carlsbad, CA. The new and growing clinical trials division of ABM is focused on the development of EEG biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, Huntington’s disease) and mood disorders (e.g. major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder). The work will be at least partially home based during the pandemic.

 

Job Summary

The Clinical Research Associate will assist with analyzing and evaluating clinical EEG data, development of proposals, protocols and project-specific documents, ensuring compliance with overall clinical objectives. The incumbent reports to and assists the Director of Clinical Development with all aspects of the design, implementation, management and closeout of clinical studies and supports study-related activities during the monitoring phase of active trials.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor clinical trials progress from the site management/monitoring perspective, while ensuring SOP and protocol compliance. Set-up and maintain in-house clinical trial management system for ongoing projects. Assist with 24-hour, 7 day study support.
  • Coordinate efforts from study start-up through close-out, including collection and analysis of EEG data; provision of individual acquisition reports, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete reporting of data. Particular attention must be paid to details and records of trained personnel and equipment during clinical trials. Proactively identify and document critical issues, bringing them to the attention of study management personnel.
  • Gain proficiency on EEG technologies including application of an EEG system, acquisition and analysis of data. Assist with training at study sites and ensure that study site technicians are fully competent to meet study requirements. Travel is required.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Clinical Development, participate in the design and development of clinical protocols and and create project-specific documents and tools (e.g., IRB submissions, regulatory documents, training materials, study reports and deliverables) to manage and monitor the study.
  • Assist with identification and recruitment activities for in-house studies; participate in pre-study and initiation planning.
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in a health-related field; or related disciplines is required.
  • 1 – 2 years of experience in a clinical research role.
  • Neuroscience background is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Must have strong PC skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MATLAB, SPSS).
  • Must be able to travel 20 – 40 % of time
  • Prior experience with EEG data processing strongly preferred
  • MATLAB and/or EEGLAB experience strongly preferred

 

Salary range of $55,000-$75,000 / commensurate with qualifications and experience. ABM offers a competitive salary and benefits package including 401(k).
