FULL-STACK WEB ENGINEER #DataViz

We are looking for a talented and passionate full-stack web developer to join our engineering team developing data processing and reporting applications.

About us

• We develop and operate Synetiq’s video intelligence products from end to end. You will have the chance to work on Neocortex, our internal and client facing web application.
• We value clean code and know how to write it. Code review (via GitHub) is an integral part of our development process.
• Our applications are built on open source software. We use Python (mainly Flask) on the backend and Vue.js on the frontend.
• Our architecture also includes Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, PostgreSQL and several parts of the Google Cloud Platform.
• We work in an agile way (although we love to tailor every process we use to meet our needs). We do daily standups. Every two weeks we have sprint planning meetings, where every team member’s opinion is heard.

About you

• You have at least 2-3 years of experience as a full-stack developer. A history of internships, a side project portfolio and contributions to open source software are also welcome.
• Be passionate about software engineering, be strongly driven to build a working product.
• Be open and eager to learn or introduce new technologies. Be curious about what’s happening in the (tech) world.
• You possess thorough knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JS), networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP), software architecture (REST, etc) and preferably you also took part in the deployment of web applications.
• You are proficient in Vue.js, Flask (or similar frameworks like React.js, Django or Ruby on Rails).
• Excellent coding skills, solid understanding of at least one mainstream programming language like Java, C++, Python or Javascript. For our web related stack we mainly work with Python (and its amazing libraries, like Flask and SQLAlchemy) and Vue.js, so some experience with these technologies is preferred.
• Intermediate command of the software engineering toolset like source control (like SVN, Git or Mercurial), build and deployment tools (like npm or Docker) and IDEs (like Eclipse, IntelliJ WebStorm, VS Code, etc.).
• Interest in data processing and visualisation applications, good analytical skills.
• Ability to cope with a rapidly changing startup environment.
• You will take part in the full development lifecycle of Synetiq’s internal and client facing reporting applications: write code, review others’ code, test, deploy, troubleshoot and operate software.
• You will be an active member of the agile engineering team, contribute to stand-ups and planning meetings. Observe the way Synetiq works, continuously think about and suggest improvements in technology as well as in other areas.
• You will work closely with the Client Services Team (media analysts and sales) to understand our clients’ needs and act upon them.
