PostDoc – Brain Circuits for Motivated Behavior and Decision-making

Post-doctoral position in Stockholm/Sweden

Position: Post-doctoral Position
Deadline: 1 August 2021
Contract Length: 4 years
City: Stockholm
Country: Sweden
Institution: Karolinska Institutet
Department: Neuroscience

Description:

Post-doctoral position in brain circuits.

The Meletis laboratory at Karolinska Institutet, Department of Neuroscience, has an open position for a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the identity and organization of brain circuits that are relevant for motivated behavior and decision-making, including molecular changes in neuron subtypes found in models of addiction and mood disorders.

We currently investigate the identity, connectivity, and in vivo function of neuron subtypes in striatal circuits, lateral hypothalamus, and lateral habenula, focusing on how the function of neuron subtypes in circuits shape motivated behaviors.

The postdoc will use state-of-the-art approaches to define identity of neurons subtypes and brain regions (e.g. snRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics), develop new mouse models, and define cell-type specific connectivity using viral approaches.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in a stimulating and highly collaborative environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

We expect applicants to have a strong scientific track record and the determination to contribute to mapping and functional understanding of circuits, with extensive experience and interest in molecular techniques, neuroanatomy, data analysis and visualization.

Applicants must have received their PhD within the past 3 years.
