Postdoc – Moment-to-moment Visual Sampling Through Complementary Processes of Enhancement and Suppression

Postdoc position in the Fiebelkorn Lab at University of Rochester

The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Rochester Medical Center announces a postdoctoral position under the co-supervision of Dr. Ian Fiebelkorn and Dr. Farran Briggs. The postdoctoral associate will primarily work in the Fiebelkorn Lab, receiving additional training and mentorship from the Briggs Lab. The project will focus on how the attention network dynamically shapes moment-to-moment visual sampling through complementary processes of enhancement and suppression. The postdoctoral associate will have the opportunity to record neural activity in both humans and nhps, and to employ optogenetics in nhps. For neurophysiology in nhps, the postdoctoral associate will conduct simultaneous recordings of neural data from multiple nodes of the attention network.

The successful candidate will have completed a PhD by the start of the position. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in advanced signal processing and/or neurophysiology, but we will consider any exceptional candidate. Salary and benefits will conform to NIH requirements, and will be commensurate with experience. Diverse applicants and those from a wide variety of scientific backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. The initial appointment is for one year, and may be renewed depending on performance.

Interested applicants should email a cover letter, their curriculum vitae, and contact details for 3 references to:
