Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a fulltime Postdoctoral Scholar in the laboratory of Dr. Edward Ester. The successful applicant will contribute to an NSF-funded project leveraging psychophysical modeling and non-invasive measurements of human brain activity (EEG and fMRI) to understand how mental representations are mapped onto motor plans. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to contribute to complementary projects and planned extramural funding applications.

The Ester lab is based in the Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), but maintains strong ties with UNR’s Integrative Neuroscience Program and the Department of Biology. The lab houses custom-built EEG systems with integrated eyetrackers and has access to a state-of-the-art 3T Siemens MRI scanner. The UNR Psychology Department also maintains a shared research space with additional tools, including fNIRS, tDCS/ACS, electroretinography, and adaptive optics. Opportunities for collaboration are many and supported by joint lab meetings, weekly research seminars, and interdepartmental colloquia.

The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of an extension pending funding. Salary and benefits are commensurate with NIH pay scales.

 

Required Qualifications: PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or related field by time of appointment and strong programming skills (MATLAB, Python, bash).

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with EEG or MRI.
