Postdoctoral/senior scientist positions available in the field of Molecular neurobiology / neuronal cell biology.

The Center for Brain Research, Medical University of Vienna, is an internationally leading research institution in neuroscience. The present recruitment is for the Department of Molecular Neurosciences headed by Tibor Harkany. We are looking for a talented and experienced postdoctoral fellow with experience in developmental biology particularly related to maternal influences on fetal development, hormonal, neurotransmitter or neuromodulator (endocannabinoid) biology. The successful applicant is expected to work on state-of-the-art questions on single-cell analysis of cell-type diversity and function determination.

 

Requirements:

  • In this case, a 5-year contract is offered.
  • We are looking for an individual with a doctoral degree (or equivalent) in the life sciences, preferably neuroscience or developmental biology.
  • Documented knowledge of developmental biology or metabolomics or trans-generational studies or neurophysiology, as well as experience with single-cell analysis and in vitro/in vivo experiments is a must.

 

Advantages:

  • Publications in relevant and top-tier peer-reviewed journals, knowledge with Western blotting, molecular biology/cloning and/or brain anatomy will be positively assessed.
  • Knowledge in hormone-driven neuronal development and/or obesity research and a good command of English will allow the successful candidate to work in a competitive and internationally-recognized research group.
