caesar is a neuroethology institute that studies how the collective activity of the vast numbers of interconnected neurons in the brain gives rise to the plethora of animal behaviors. Our research spans a large range of scales from the nano-scale imaging of brain circuitry, to large-scale functional imaging of brain circuitry during behavior, to the quantification of natural animal behaviors.

We are currently looking for a

 

Public Relations Officer (m/f/d)

(full time at 38,5 hours/week)

to join us at the next possible opportunity. The position will initially be for 2 years with the possibility for extension.

 

Job description

As the Public Relations Officer you will showcase to the public the outstanding scientific research under-taken at caesar. To this end you will be the primary point of contact for inquiries from the media and other external parties as well as for all internal and external PR activities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Continue, develop and implement internal and external communication strategies and produce informational materials for a wide range of audiences. In close cooperation with the leadership of caesar you will help determine the future direction of these efforts and design and develop new PR tools and activities.
  • Plan, organize and execute internal and external (public engagement) events.
  • Foster and initiate interactions and networks with various stakeholders and your peers in the Bonn area (e.g. press, university, city hall, museums etc.).
  • Editor, online and offline media; work closely together with the Public Outreach Officer to further develop and effectively use the institute’s social media and online presence.
  • Support our efforts in branding, reputation management and media response analysis.

 

Requirements

  • Successfully completed university studies, preferably with a focus on Media, Communication, Public Relations, Journalism and/or a Ph.D./M.Sc. degree in an appropriate natural science discipline (e.g. biology, chemistry, physics).
  • Several years of experience as a Public Relations Officer, preferably in a science environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English and German.
  • Highly competent in standard publishing software and content management systems.
  • You are highly motivated, responsible, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to independently organize and prioritize your tasks.
  • Prior experience in crisis communication would be a plus.
