Senior Software Engineer – Possible Remote

Precision Neuroscience
Senior Software Engineer for Brain-Computer Interface Company
Location: Open to remote; preference for SF or NYC

What will be your impact, how will you make a difference?

At Precision Neuroscience, we have assembled world-class experts, including several Founding Members of Neuralink, to change what it means to live with brain disease. Led by Benjamin Rapoport, a neurosurgeon and electrical engineer, the founding team has deep expertise in translational neuroscience, electrical engineering, microfabrication, and other aspects of brain-computer interface (BCI) systems. We are committed to using our expertise across disciplines to revolutionize the care of patients with neurological disorders.

The Role:  As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help build the software that will power our brain-computer interface platform. Software will enable implanted electrode arrays in the brain to perform unprecedented feats and address previously intractable disease states. In your role, you will have significant creative license to drive development of this technology.

What will I do? (You are responsible for, but not limited to):

  • Design software to interface with and process real-time neural data
  • Develop and refine the hardware-software interface, digital signal processing, neural decoding, control, and user interface for our initial product
  • Participate in cutting-edge applications for neurotechnology and brain-computer interfaces while collaborating with a team of experts in their fields to progress the technology rapidly toward commercialization
  • Deliver working software packages within defined timelines
  • Drive progress and collaborate across domains of hardware, software, data collection and analysis, and regulatory compliance

Precision Neuroscience is a mission-driven company developing and commercializing brain-computer interfaces (BCI). We are pursuing minimally invasive approaches to BCI to address major unmet clinical needs. We are well-capitalized and have an IP portfolio that has been built over a decade. We are focused on addressing previously intractable medical conditions such as refractory epilepsy, blindness, paralysis, cognitive impairment, and impulse-control disorders.

Who are we looking for?

  • Software engineer with 5+ years of experience, very strong software development skills, and passion for our mission of developing brain-computer interfaces
  • Fluent in Python and C/C++
  • Experience with code management tools and testing frameworks
  • Familiarity with hardware interfaces is a must, digital signal processing would be a plus
  • Familiarity with neural data, clinical electrophysiology, or neural decoding would be an advantage but not required
  • Medical industry experience would be a benefit and operating within a quality management system (ISO 13485) is a plus
  • You should be comfortable with creative problem solving in a startup environment, collaborating, and taking charge of projects. A track record of delivering on accelerated timelines and budgets, with a demonstrated history of self-directed work within a team is desired

Why should you join the team?

At Precision Neuroscience, we bring together extraordinary people to tackle problems that will have major impact on the lives of real people in coming years. This position offers you the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from highly motivated colleagues looking to help define the future of healthcare. Our team operates with an extremely high level of mutual respect. Every voice counts and we believe in the collective success of the team. We believe that by assembling a team of high-performance people with diverse backgrounds and experience, who treat one another with respect and work together as a team, our company and our patients will significantly benefit.

Diverse workforces create the best culture, company, and products. We at Precision Neuroscience are committed to an inclusive culture that celebrates the uniqueness and contributions of everyone. As an equal opportunity employer, Precision Neuroscience does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, religion, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
