Sr. Backend Software Engineer

About the Sr. Backend Software Engineer:

We are seeking a remote Sr. Backend Software Engineer to join our international R&D team. Valera Health is a growing startup with a top notch product in the mental health space. In this role, you’ll develop and maintain a product enabling the treatment of tens of thousands of patients.

Responsibilities of The Sr. Backend Software Engineer:

  • Be part of our agile engineering team to design, develop and deploy core product functionality
  • Collaborate across departments, including product management, data science, behavioral health specialists
  • Encourage and exhibit best practices at all phases of development and deployment

 

Qualifications of a Sr. Backend Software Engineer:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s in Science in Computer Science/ Software Engineering (or similar degree)
  • 5 years of experience in Javascript and writing backend services using Node.js
  • Knowledge in various Databases NoSql/Sql (MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
  • Working knowledge of basic EHR standards and systems (HL7, FHIR, etc)
  • Testing frameworks/ methodologies (unit tests, TDD)
  • Web development practices (RESTful apis, HTTPS, RabbitMQ)
  • Version control systems (GIT)
  • Mentor but not directly manage junior engineers on best software development practices

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of basic EHR standards and systems (HL7, FHIR, etc) – STRONGLY PREFERRED!
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud environment
  • Experience with best practices and awareness of bad practices/ anti patterns
  • Comfort with working on remote team – highly proactive and a self-starter
